The most well know of these monoliths is Haystack Rock, which holds the title of the third largest such monolith in the world.

Cannon Beach was recently named the "number one family beach in the nation" in an MSN poll, and local establishments frequently receive recognition on the national stage. While the population of Cannon Beach has remained at around 2,000 for many years, there are over 400,000 people that make this stretch of coastline their destination on an annual basis.

Given the highly desirable nature of Cannon Beach, along with a very limited urban growth boundary, property values in the area have shown extremely strong growth year over year.
